About Us
The Torres Strait Islanders’ Regional Education Council (TSIREC) is the peak community organisation for education, training and employment in the Torres Strait. For over 30 years TSIREC has acted as the essential link between community and government, providing advice at both federal and state levels on strategic policy development and reform. Since 2000, the Council has implemented a series of Memorandums of Understanding with State and Federal Governments. Through these formalized agreements, TSIREC ensures not only community engagement in the reforming of government policy and practice in the Torres Strait, but also provides a vehicle for honest and open reporting for all stakeholders.
